According to the WHO, Suicide rates in the African region (11.2 per 100 000) was higher than the global average (9.0 per 100 000) in 2019 Suicide among younger ages particularly adolescents is also becoming a public health concern in many countries. Ghana is faced with high prevalence of suicidal behaviors among high school students with 18.2%, 22.5% and 22.2% for suicidal ideation, suicidal plan and suicidal attempt respectively.
